otherwise titled “the secret lives of lava lamps”
this begins my daily photoblog. my goal is to shoot and share at least one photo every day – at least until i get bored and move on to something else. 
this was one of my last among 94 pictures that i took on jan 14. i first went out in the streets of the mission here in san francisco and couldn’t snap anything worth sharing. the lava lamp came at the end of the day when the pink glow of room of my roommate (who goes by the name pink, of course) caught my eye. i was happy at both how it turned out and that i was able to experiment with different shutter speeds to see what effect they achieved. i typically rely solely on the aperture priority setting on my camera but i need to diversify my skillset. even so, i had to tone down the saturation on this one to get the definition that you see here. i’m happy with how it all came out.
