a flamingo in the bush is worth two biting your hand

Today I picked up my third lens: a f/1.8 50mm. I’ve been excited about getting more into macro photography with dynamic blurring affects from a narrow focal range. It makes portrait shooting so much more interesting, and my first subject was this flamingo hanging out in the bushes. He looks like he’s mean but his scowl is worse than his bite (particularly since he doesn’t have any teeth.) How can you tell if a flamingo is smiling, anyway?
