Beautiful photo Jim – this spot in Amsterdam always makes me pause a moment. Did you get a chance to read the text underneath the sign? It’s the spot where just a few years ago a young man was beaten to death by some hooligans when he stepped in and stood up for pedestrians they were harassing…a silent hero now, but not forgotten.

Great, now I have to get a towel to wipe off my screen. This brings about an important point… Marketing for sweets and fast foods goes up 300% in the first few months of the new year so that people like me trying to live a healther life get sucked back to McDonalds for a big N tasty! Why I ask does McDonalds charge $3 for a fruit snack (50 Calories if you don’t use the dipping sauce), and $1 for the double cheesburger (350 Calories)? Why isn’t Ronald appropriatly sized for someone who lives at McDonalds…and is the Golden Arch just symbolism for the man boobs I would grow if I continued to eat there?

glad to see your daily pictures are continuing through the new year. I’m not sure if anything was changed on your end, but the rss feeds aren’t including images in Google Reader any more (about the past 2 weeks).

As for the cheesiness of this photo, the texture works but I think the boat is too prominent. I would imagine such a photo to contain more empty landscape.

I really like this shot! The light in the background casts a good glow over the photos. You are right, the focus could be a little better, but maybe it would look good in b&w?
