The title of this came largely from having a certain Guns N’ Roses song bouncing around in my head. Can you name which one?

One of the various projects I’ve continually dabbled in over the last few years involves photographing “unintentional” letters. For example, this one could be a “J”. I like spelling out words with photos, mostly because my friends and family are very much into it.

To do it over again with intention I might have instead made this daily photo of 2011′s final sunset. However, it’s probably more appropriate that I’m using one I just happened to take without even thinking of this project. And it looks pretty cool (but, since it’s Che, how could it not?)

On the second to last day of the year I took just one photo. When I get coins with my change I almost always put them directly in this slot in the door of my truck to feed SF’s exceedingly hungry parking meters.

I know i’m REALLY far behind (over a month!) on catching up this daily blog up, but it’ll be current soon. I’ve been steadily taking photos every day and sharing much of it immediately on Instagram (you can find me by my username Nomadjim) but I haven’t spent much time doing the final editing and posting here. And now I’m about to leave on a technology break until after the new year. When I come back, I expect to be insanely busy with work for the first week… Anyway, if anyone is reading this and interested, please let me know. The encouragement will probably help speed this along

LED Christmas lights are fun because a) they use ~85% less electricity and b) their refresh rate is noticably slower than what your brain processes. Move your hands in front of a strand while in a dark room and see what I mean.

I have at least 3 water bottles that I use almost every day. One stays at my office (with two others of a different style that I rarely use) and makes frequent trips to the gym with me, another commutes between home and the office (and just about any out-of-the-country trip as well), and the one pictured here sits next to my bed. I believe the red on the other side of it is how it sees my couch.

I love the attention to detail that this guy is putting into cleaning his car, even though one of the panels it a totally different color.

My favorite event of the year in SF is absolutely SantaCon. If you don’t know what it is, look it up and I’ll see you there in December!

I didn’t have to go out of my way to take small, western town-like photos while I was in a small, western town in Texas. I did have a new iPhone with a MUCH better camera than my previous one so you might notice that many of my daily photos are now taken with it.

Also: You really shouldn’t take photos when you’re driving, but if you do just make sure that you take a lot of them in hopes that one comes out the way you envision it (achieving vision is significantly harder when doing reasonably complicated things like driving).
